Our purpose is to study how the island is manifested in the relationship between the movement in space and identity in the Caribbean literary discourse. We took Chamoiseau for paradigmatic case of contemporary writer. Our idea is this: the question of the subject is a way to make a double social and literary attack in the intellectual universe. And subjectivity is only possible by a self‑inner journey to another. This approach remains partial in Elbadawi which itself is limited to the exploration of an ego that suffers. And the conditions of possibility of this approach are threefold and is measured in space possible.

This article proposes to explore the nature of multiple imaginative belongings as this is inscribed within various Mauritian literary texts, written in three different languages. The tyranny of the desire for national belonging has known varied fortunes over the last 200 years as nationalism has been simultaneously praised and derided in the construction of the national imaginary. In the context of multicultural Mauritius, the complexity of the nationalist paradigm exists in parallel with numerous transnational narratives of diasporic belonging. Nowhere is this more visible than in the literary output, where writers play with the often overlapping realities of multiple belongings.
On the example of two writers of the African diaspora in France, Alain Mabanckou and Léonora Miano, the following paper examines how the notion of the author can be manipulated by the media and become a generator of controversy. Moreover, it deals with the impact of their media coverage (limited to the Parisian press and Websites) of their recent productions: Black Bazar (2009) and Demain, j’aurai vingt ans (2010) by Alain Mabanckou and Les Aubes écarlates (2009) and Blues pour Elise (2010) by Léonora Miano. This impact is evaluated through the comparative analysis of the writers’ works and perspectives.

This comparative essay focuses on an ancient, multi-faceted process of rewriting, that the author tries to explore through his personal experience as a writer. Bourneuf begins with by writing about his scholarly research dealing with the influence of one author on another (especially the French-Canadian poet Saint-Denys Garneau) and proceeds to raise the question whether literature is indeed a continuous process of rewriting the same stories, characters, themes and myths. As a professor of literature and a writer, the author muses over the impact that French and foreign literatures had on his own literary career as the author of essays, short stories and novels.

The article studies Marco Micone’s « Le figuier enchanté » (a novel inspired by a Quebecois classic – “Une saison dans la vie d’Emmanuel” by Marie-Claire Blais) as the author’s attempts to get closer to the Quebecois cultural heritage. Micone is an Italian-Canadian writer who became famous for his public interventions in favor of the marginalized and the oppressed (both immigrants and workers exploited by the capitalist regime). His novel is strongly impregnated with the idea of the battle for a better tomorrow which, in his view, is possible only when all the inhabitants of Quebec get to know and help each other.

The aim of my article is to explore the representation of the islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues in The Prospector (1985) by French writer Jean‑Marie Gustave Le Clézio and of the Solomon Islands in the Regeneration trilogy (1991—1995) by a British writer Pat Barker. Both Le Clézio and Barker use and challenge the pastoral recourses belonging to the tradition of Great War writing and the convention of idealising remote Arcadian lands. Several insular myths are thus undermined by the two writers, who thus resituate remote islands in the Pacific and Indian Oceans as integral parts of European modernity.

Le texte explore la représentation du sujet afro-polonais dans le discours littéraire de Dongala et Dove en se concentrant sur l'identification ontologique et la conception humaniste du sujet. Il applique ces deux notions à l’analyse de la figuration du sujet afro-polonais dans le roman "La sonate à Bridgetower : Sonata Mulattica" (2017) d'Emmanuel Dongala, en faisant de cette représentation une instance de questionnement de la liberté. Parallèlement, la poésie de Rita Dove, à travers "Sonata Mulattica" (2010), met en avant l'espoir et la puissance libératrice de la musique dans le parcours de Bridgetower, élargissant ainsi la perspective à l'échelle européenne, notamment en incluant l'Angleterre et la France. Dans les deux récits, la figure de Bridgetower incarne un nouvel humanisme afro-polonais dans l'Europe du XVIIIe siècle, tout en soulignant les enjeux contemporains de discrimination et de quête d'acceptation sociale.

There are many publications on witches both in children’s literature and in scholarly essays. Mona Chollet’s Witches, the Undefeated Power of Women explains that the word has become an emblem of feminism. This article offers a comparative analysis of several recent novels, based on the latter’s thesis, whose aim is to examine how the witch character is constructed, how the authors treat historical data (healer witch, witch-hunt, stake, etc.) and how they renew this character regarding certain issues (identity, transmission, emancipation, etc.). Are the witches of children’s novels carrying feminist demands for young readers?
