Dr. Paweł Jędrzejko, M.A., Ph.D., D. Litt., is an Associate Professor of American Literature and Chair of the Department of American and Canadian Studies at the Institute of English Cultures and Literatures, University of Silesia in Katowice. In the years 2013--2018 he served as the director of the University of Silesia Press. A member of his home Institute’s faculty since 1995, Paweł Jędrzejko has performed the functions of the Academic Secretary of the Institute, Rector's Plenipotentiary for Recruitment, Member of the Advisory Committee for Open Access at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Coordinator of the NeoLit Students’ Research Society, organizer or co-chair of numerous academic events, director of degree dissertations and examiner for the Ph.D. programs at the Faculty of Philology. He holds memberships of the Polish Association of American Studies, American Studies Association (ASA), Modern Language Association (MLA), as well as of the Melville Society, whose International Conference he organized in Poland in 2007. Since 2003, he has been actively contributing to the development of International American Studies Association, the only world-wide, independent, non-governmental association for Americanists. He serves as a IASA Member At-Large and is a member of the Executive Council of the Organization. Jędrzejko is also a co-founder and co-editor of the Review of International American Studies and, since 2013, an Associate Editor to Er(r)go, the Journal of Theory, Literature and Culture. As an alumnus of the Civic Education Project, he continues to expand connections between Polish and international academia. To unwind, he goes sailing, sings sea-shanties in a vocal sextet Banana Boat, plays the guitar, or devises plans for future sailing expeditions.
