Richard Hönigswald, who was born 150 years ago (18.07.1875), exposed the outlines of his philosophy in a text that has also been published under the title "Philosophy as the Theory of Objectivity" (Philosophie als Theorie der Gegenständlichkeit). Indeed, Kant's revolution of philosophical thinking has presented a new way of conceiving of objectivity. This new way has inspired German idealist philosophy from the start to the utmost. The neo-Kantians, a movement to which Hönigswald belongs, aimed to advance philosophy by bringing Kant's transcendental idealism to perfection, while at the same time overcoming both the pitfalls of speculative idealism and all kinds of realist philosophies of their own time. This attempt to develop philosophy by perfecting Kant's philosophy while overcoming alternative approaches also guided transcendental philosophy after the Second World War.
Folia's Philosophica issue on "Objectivity in Transcendental Philosophy" is open for discussions of specifically Hönigswald's contribution to the theory of objectivity as well as studies of the theory of objectivity of the neo-Kantians and contemporary transcendental philosophers that engage productively with the neo-Kantian tradition. Apart from senior researchers, we particularly welcome contributions from PhD students on transcendental philosophy and post-docs. The discussions may concern developments within transcendental philosophy but also confrontations between transcendental philosophy and alternative contemporary philosophical approaches. – Candidates that consider to submit a text on Hönigswald are invited to contact the editors (Michael Gerten michael.gerten@uni-bamberg.de; Christian Krijnen c.h.krijnen@vu.nl) within four weeks after the CfP has been published, as we consider organizing a Zoom conference on Hönigswald in the autumn.
