Submissions

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission is original and does not violate any rights (including copyright and intellectual property);
  • The submission has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by any other journal or publishing house;
  • The file is in Microsoft Word format (*.doc, *.docx), RTF or Open Office;
  • The text has been prepared in accordance with the guidelines set under FOR AUTHORS → Text formatting section;
  • The submission should include the following metadata:

    • Title of the article in Polish, English, and Russian;

    • Abstract of up to 1 000 characters with spaces in Polish, English, and Russian;

    • Key words in Polish, English, and Russian;

    • Author’s ORCID number and affiliation. Multi-author article should include ORCID numbers and affiliations of all authors;

    • Bibliography prepared in accordance with the following guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Author’s responsibilities and obligations

Authors are required to comply with the collaboration rules and technical requirements.

Upon submitting a text, authors attach an appropriate statement of the originality of the text and disclose all organisations that contributed to its creation (statement of financial and institutional support). In order for a submission to be considered, the author(s) must also consent to the processing of personal data, necessary for publication by the journal's Editor and the Publisher (name, affiliation, ORCID, email address). All data are provided voluntarily by authors; authors have the right to edit and delete their data from the system.

Authors provide one-time consent for the publication and placement of the text on the journal's website and in collaborating databases.

Submission of texts is equivalent to accepting the ethical principles described above.

Text submissions

  • The submission has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by any other journal or publishing house;

  • The text has been prepared in accordance with the guidelines set under FOR AUTHORS → Text formatting section;

The submissions are made online through OJS Platform. Please read the OJS manual before submitting your text.

Text formatting

Rules for preparing text for publication:

  1. Margins – standard (2.5 cm on each side);
  2. Font in main text – Times New Roman 12, leading 1.5;
  3. Font in footnotes – Times New Roman 10, leading 1.0;
  4. Name(s) and surname(s) of the author(s), ORCID: http:/0000-0000-000-0000 – in the upper left corner;
  5. Title – bold font, centre alignment;
  6. Main text and footnotes – justified;
  7. Text should be without double spaces;
  8. Names of authors cited in the main text for the first time should be provided in full version;
  9. According to Polish editing norms, initials should not be separated by space;
  10. In the main text, titles of monographs, dictionaries and other works should be written in italics; titles of journals and series should be written in normal print in inverted commas;
  11. Quotation marks: in Polish texts: „tekst”; in English texts: “text”; in Russian – «текст»;
  12. Long quotations (longer than three lines) should be quoted without inverted commas, in normal print, separated from the main text with an additional leading on both sides;
  13. Three-line and shorter quotations should be quoted without inverted commas, in normal print, separated from the main text with an additional leading on both sides;
  14. Omitting a passage in the inserted quotation should be indicated by […];
  15. Footnotes: consecutive numbering;
  16. All manuscripts should include abstracts with the title of the article and key words (between 4 and 5) in English, Polish and Russian;
  17. Reference list should be placed after the main text and should be ordered in alphabetical order of authors’ names. Please, do not provide numerical order in the reference list.

For texts in Polish or Russian follow Oxford Referencing System, according to the instruction provided by University of Silesia Press.

For texts in English follow Chicago Manual Style, according to the instruction provided by University of Silesia Press.

Articles: size

Manuscripts should not exceed 40,000 characters (with spaces) inclusive of footnotes and references.

Reviews should not exceed 20,000 characters (with spaces) inclusive of footnotes and references.

Texts for Varia section (e.g. conference reports, information about books) should not exceed 3 typewritten pages.
