Prof. Jolanta Latkowska, Institute of Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities, University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland
Jolanta Latkowska (PhD, D.Sc.) is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Linguistics, University of Silesia, Poland. Her research addresses cognitive and linguistic aspects of bilingualism, including L2-induced restructuring of the L1 and bidirectional interaction of languages within the construct of multicompetence. Her work has appeared in edited volumes published by Multilingual Matters, Springer, and Peter Lang. Her book-length monograph The Language-Cognition Interface in Bilinguals: An Evaluation of the Conceptual Transfer Hypothesis (University of Silesia Press, 2013) discusses the phenomena of linguistic relativity and semantic/conceptual interaction in the bilingual mental lexicon. Prof. Latkowska has also been awarded several teaching and research scholarships in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

Adam Wojtaszek, PhD, D.Sc. is Associate Professor and the director of the Institute of Linguistics at the University of Silesia in Katowice. His research interests encompass linguistic pragmatics, meaning encoding, specialised registers, advertising discourse, the language of persuasion, and language acquisition. He has published two books on advertising discourse and several articles on the topic. He is also the co-editor of several books within the broadly understood language acquisition studies: Neurolinguistic and Psycholinguistic Perspectives on SLA (2010), The Acquisition of L2 Phonology (2011a), Individual Learner Differences in SLA (2011b), Aspects of Culture in Second Language Acquisition and Foreign Language Learning (2011c), Studying Second Language Acquisition from a Qualitative Perspective (2014), and Multiculturalism, Multilingualism and the Self (2017). Together with prof. Danuta Gabryś-Barker is editor-in-chief of the SCOPUS-indexed journal Theory and Practice of Second Language Acquisition (est. 2015), published by the University of Silesia Press. He is one of the long-standing co-organisers of the annual International Conference on Foreign / Second Language Acquisition – ICFSLA, one of the leading conferences on the topic organised in Poland.
