Quand le futur antérieur n’exprime pas le futur

In her article Ewa Ciszewska attempted to present the retrospective value (summary or synthesis) of the future perfect tense (futur anterieur). Futur anterieur is often used in press articles for underlining peculiar nature of an event from the past and for summarizing it, e.g. L'annee 2001 aura ete fatale pour l'economie mondiale. An analysis of the context makes it possible to indicate the elements which allow the reader to choose the correct interpretation of the futur anterieur tense. These elements comprise the expressions like: il aura fallu x temps pour..., il aura suffi de... pour..., summarizing expressions: au total, au final, en definitive, adversative phrases: en revache, neanmoins, pourtant and the adverbs jamais and rarement when they appear at the beginning of a sentence. In such utterances one can usually find continuative verbs {etre, durer, valoir) which are used with adverbials of time, thus indicating certain segments of time.

Traduction du futur antérieur de probabilité en polonais

The future tense futur antérieur, in addition to other values, mainly temporary ones, may indicate probability. The article presents the result of the analysis of the Polish equivalents of this future tense. The analysis is based on the corpus of literary texts of 19th and 20th centuries translated into Polish. The futur antérieur is generally translated through the construction with the verb musieć, various opinion verbs and modal adverbs which indicate the degree of certainty of the speaker towards the contents of his utterance. The absence of the modal expression is possible only in interrogative clauses, in alternatives, with indefinite pronouns or when preceding verb indicates the probability.

L’aspect accompli et la traduction du futur antérieur en polonais

The purpose of this article is to describe the means of translating the grammatical tense futur antérieur in the accompli aspect from French into Polish. The accompli aspect constitutes a trait which is characteristic for French compound tenses, but absent from Polish in any form which would indicate the completion of the process and the state resulting from it. The perfective aspect of the future tense does not allow to underscore the resulting state, therefore, the translator tries to express it by using other structures.

Futur anterieur - temps du futur ou temps du passe ?

A future tense future anterieur can be used to describe probability or an event (moment) prior to some other event (moment) in the future, but it may also appear in literary or press texts as a summary of past events. The author focuses her attention on the last usage and analyses the context in order to distinguish these elements which allow the reader to locate a given event on the axis of time. At such occasions future anterieur appears in specific constructions (// aura fallu X temps pour...), and is used with various adverbials of time, with phrases indicating opposition or conclusion as well as with adverbs jamais and rarement.

Traduction du futur antérieur de probabilité en polonais. Problème d'héritage sémantique dans la description des parties du corps

The article deals with the problem of semantic heredity in the semantic class of the parts of the body. This is an analysis situated within the frame of the object-oriented perspective propagated by W. Banyś, used to describe 89 words belonging to the above-mentioned category. Problems with ascribing particular parts of the body to the proper superclasses were described, as well as the criteria used to distinguish the main three superclasses all the elements belonging to the object class of the parts of the body can be qualified to.
