1. General rules
a) We accept only original texts that have not been published elsewhere.
b) We invite text proposals for the following three basic sections:
– research papers
– source materials
– reviews
c) We accept texts in electronic format, accompanied by an obligatory summary in Polish.
d) We also accept texts from foreign Authors, written in foreign languages, but accompanied by a detailed summary in Polish.
e) The submitted texts are subjected to internal review, and after they have been assessed positively, they are sent to external Reviewers who specialize in the research of the given period of the Middle Ages.
f) When the Authors receive their reviews, they are obliged to improve their text and introduce the changes suggested by the Reviewers. They also have to adjust their bibliographical references to the requirements set by the University of Silesia Press.
g) Introducing the suggested changes into the text is a condition for publishing that text.
h) The Editors reserve the right to introduce adjustments into the received texts.
i) The Editorial Board employs the procedures of protecting the originality of scientific publications suggested by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
2. The submitted texts should be prepared according to the following rules:
a) At the top of the first page the following data need to be included:
– in research papers and source materials: the first name and surname of the Author, affiliation, and ORCID should be placed in the top left corner;
– in reviews: the bibliographical data of the reviewed book (the author’s full name and surname, the title as it appears on the title page, the place and year of publication); the Author’s name and surname should be placed at the end of the review.
b) Manuscripts should be sent in the format of a text file (.doc, .docx, .rtf).
c) The length of a paper should not exceed one and a half of a publisher’s sheet (approx. 60,000 characters with spaces), and the length of a review is up to a half of a publisher’s sheet (approx. 20,000 characters with spaces).
d) For all attached illustrations it is necessary to provide their author’s name and source, as well as the name of the institution that gave copyright permission.
e) Manuscripts (except reviews) should be accompanied by a summary in Polish (approx. 1,500-2,000 characters with spaces).
f) The submitted material should contain information about the Author’s corresponding address, phone number or email address.
3. Editorial guidelines
The text should be prepared in accordance with the guidelines below.
The main text:
- font: Times New Roman 12;
– spacing: 1.5.
- Illustrations (including tables, drawings, figures, photos, etc.) should be described in detail and attached in separate files. The Author should indicate their place in the text.
We also ask to do the following:
– use italics and bold font where appropriate;
– indent the first line of each paragraph;
– number the pages in the whole paper using the default settings of the text editor;
– indicate clearly which sections are subordinate and which are superordinate.
