Abstract

This article intends to situate as precisely as possible the work of Gaston Gross and his team within what can be called “The School of Distributional and Transformational Grammars”, whose main representatives are Zellig S. Harris, Maurice Gross, Jean Dubois and Françoise Dubois-Charlier, and Gaston Gross. After discussing the collaboration of Maurice Gross with Zellig Harris in the process of developing the theory of Distributional and Transformational Grammars, we will highlight what Gaston Gross borrows from Maurice Gross and what he innovates, even going so far as to address an aspect of Harris’ original project that had been left out by Maurice Gross.
