À l’origine de tout, la Peur. Le cas de Roland Barthes

Résumé

In this paper I analyze several contexts in which the phenomenon of fear appears in Roland Barthes’ thinking In the first place, I will point out that Fear (written in capital letter in L’Image) placed “at the origin of everything”, becomes the fundamental fear, inseparable from the human condition. After all, for The Pleasure of the Text Barthes chose as its epigraph a quote by Thomas Hobbes ‘The only true passion in my life has been fear’, before introducing the idea of the proximity (identity?) of bliss and fear. Secondly, I will show that when Barthes writes about fear, he often refers to Donald Woods Winnicott’s article The Fear of Breakdown. In conclusion, I will point to an ambivalent status of fear in Barthes’s analysis: its recognition and acceptance are accompanied by desire for its
disappearance.

Note biographique

D’origine polonaise, Magdalena Marciniak (née en 1983) est titulaire d’un Doctorat en philosophie à l’Université Jagellonne de Cracovie. Elle possède également trois titres de Master : en Philosophie et en Études Théâtrales (Université Jagellonne), et en Psychanalyse (Université Paul Valéry de Montpellier).

À partir de 2013 elle réalise un post-doctorat (sous la direction de Monsieur Philippe Roger) à l’EHESS (Paris). Depuis septembre 2015, elle poursuit son éducation à l’École Pratique des Hautes Études en Psychopathologies (Paris).

Ses recherches portent essentiellement sur la pensée de Roland Barthes, sur les relations entre le théâtre et la philosophie, sur l’éthique et la philosophie morale et sur la philosophie française contemporaine. Son livre Le sens et la sensualité. La pensée théâtrale de Jacques Derrida, Roland Barthes et Jean‑François Lyotard a été publié en avril 2014 aux éditions Księgarnia
Akademicka (Pologne).
