According to Alkinoos, Didaskalikos — being a part of Plato’s doctrine — in fact seems to be a display of a Middle Platonism philosophy. Therefore, it imports a lot from the philosophers of the prior period.

This paper deals with the impact of Aristotle’s and Xenocrate’s ideologies on Alkinoos’s interpretation of Plato’s philosophy. It attempts to show that the way Alkinoos classifies philosophies, types of living, the syllogistics and judgement, as well as most of his theology and ethics, is clearly of Aristotelian origins. Also, the terminology adapted by Alkinoos, his interpretation of cosmological terms, epistemology and the issue of God, as well as the theory of idea as a God’s thought, seem to be derived directly from Xenocrate’s concepts.

Taking into account the impact of, for example, Antiochus of Ascalon, Philo of Alexandria, Arius Didymus or Posidonius, it seems plausible that Middle Platonism might be a further step in the evolution of philosophical thought.

The article presents a Hegelian view of Kant’s thing in itself in regard to Hegel’s understanding of truth. In it, I designate eight key fragments of The Phenomenology of Spirit, around which the analysis of the issue takes place. As a result, the boundaries have been defined in which Hegel wants to pursue his deliberations. Hegel does not want to think about what is independent of the cognizing subject, claiming that it does not concern us,
philosophers because it is the task of religion. The truth for Hegel is what realizes itself among us so that it is fully available to us.

The aim of the article is to analyze the chosen passages of Akalaṅka’s Tattvârtha-sūtra-rāja-vārttika (8^th c. CE) (mainly RVār 1.9, 20 and 26) in order to find an answer to a question: what are the boundaries of śruta-jñāna (‘scriptural cognition’), especially with reference to mati-jñāna’s (‘sensory cognition’) way of functioning? It aims at indicating particular aspects of relation between these two cognitions, basically the cause and effect order, the overlapping scopes of these two cognitions, a possibility of their erroneousness and various means of their attainment. These four issues could be taken into consideration in order to feature both of them in their mutual references. I attach the short analysis of Jinabhadra Gaṇi’s (6/7^th c. CE) Viśeṣâvaśyaka-bhāṣya’s passages to shed light, in contrast, on the other Jain text – anteceding Akalaṅka’s treatise – in which this issue has been undertaken and thus to reveal rudimentary cohesion and coherence within the Jain system of thought.

Abstract:

In this work, the author reports on the ninth edition of the Summer School of Phenomenology and Philosophy of Mind, which took place in Copenhagen on 13-17 August, 2018. At the beginning of the report, the context, character, goals of the meeting and the number of participants are presented. Next, the order of the day is presented, the detailed structure of the lecture and workshop parts. The author then makes a brief summary of 5 lectures and 10 papers presented each day.

 In diesem Artikel berichtet der Autor über die neunte Auflage der Sommerschule für Phänomenologie und Philosophie des Geistes, die am 13.-17. August 2018 in Kopenhagen stattfand. Zu Beginn des Berichts werden der Kontext, Charakter, Ziele des Treffens und die Anzahl der Teilnehmer vorgestellt. Als nächstes wird die Reihenfolge des Tages als auch die detaillierte Struktur des Vortrags und des Seminarteils präsentiert. Der Autor macht dann eine kurze Zusammenfassung der fünf Vorträge und 10 Präsentationen, die sind in Rahmen der Sommerschule vorgestellt worden.
