Abstract

This article describes the possibilities that the Treq application provides in the process of translating Russian colloquial medical names into Hebrew. The author presents the tool’s available functions that make it easier to find the adequate equivalent and also provides information about the Russian and Hebrew collections included in the InterCorp parallel corpus. The article analyzes specific examples of the translation of Russian colloquial names of diseases into Hebrew using the English language as an intermediary language. Preliminary reference to printed and electronic resources made it possible to establish a potentially correct
equivalent, whose adequacy should be confirmed by the application. The results of the analysis made it possible to determine the advantages and disadvantages of the application, and the found translations can serve as the basis for more thorough research in the field of identifying translation pairs of the everyday medical vocabulary of the analyzed languages.
