Streszczenie
Analiza tytułu znanego eseju rosyjskiego noblisty i jego włoskiego oraz rosyjskiego tłumaczenia prowadzi do ujawnienia obecności w tych translatorskich wersjach dwóch sposobów myślenia o sensie dzieła poety, z których jeden prowadzi ku metafizycznemu uogólnieniu jego znaczeń, drugi zaś postrzega go jako rezultat manifestacji podmiotu melancholicznego. Owe pozornie sprzeczne interpretacje analizowanego tytułu stwarzają przesłanki do reinterpretacji światopoglądu omawianego eseju.
SEMANTICS OF THE TITLE OF IOSIF BRODSKY’S ESSAY WATERMARK
Summary
An analysis of the title of the essay by the Russian Nobel Prize winner as well as the Italian and Russian translations reveals two ways of thinking about the meaning of the poet’s work in those translation variants. One of them points towards a metaphysical generalization of its themes, the other sees it as a result of the manifestation of a melancholic subject. These two seemingly contradictory interpretations of the title suggest a reinterpretation of the world-view expressed in the essay
