Two recognised French‑speaking authors of Haitian descent, two real earthquakes, two different continents, one subject. If the situation is similar at the beginning, how is the plot built? What are the heroes’ attitudes towards natural disasters? How to live afterwards? The article attempts to identify the rituals and ceremonies in those two recent novels focusing on the earthquakes’ impact on the everyday life and social relations of the heroes.
