About

Labour law and social security law encompass a wide range of issues related to the protection of employed individuals, the organization of work, and social security, becoming crucial areas in response to modern labour market challenges. Regulations concerning, among others, the employment relationship, atypical forms of employment, working hours, remuneration, employee leave, responsibilities of the parties within the employment relationship, job security, and social insurance systems play a significant role in shaping employment relations. The mission of Z Problematyki Prawa Pracy i Polityki Socjalnej (Labour Law and Social Policy Issues)  is to provide in-depth analyses and up-to-date academic studies on these fundamental topics.

Labour law defines the minimum rights and maximum duties of employees. Its protective function stems from the need to establish certain guarantees and benefits for employees on a normative basis, as employees, being the weaker party in the employment relationship, cannot independently secure their professional and social interests. On the other hand, the organizational function of labour law ensures the proper exercise of managerial authority by employers over employees. This function allows employers to maximize the productivity of their employees without compromising their interests (e.g., through detailed regulations on working time systems). Meanwhile, social security comprises the totality of measures and actions by public institutions in European Union member states aimed at protecting citizens from undeserved hardship or ensuring the fulfillment of essential social needs in case of incapacity.

Z Problematyki Prawa Pracy i Polityki Socjalnej (Labour Law and Social Policy Issues) is directed at both academics and practitioners, including lawyers specializing in individual and collective labour law, social policy experts, and policymakers responsible for implementing protective regulations.
