The academic profile of our journal corresponds to the research dedicated to the existential literary tropes; it poses a question concerning the singularity of existence which might be recognised in the textualised experiences and subjective projections of one’s identity. A foundational term for our perspective and the trademark of our journal, the “wound” encompasses an idiosyncratic insight into not only literature and culture, but also the relationship between a human being and broadly understood environment. Since our perception of the “wound” exceeds the topics and content of the texts considerably, we connect it with the influential trends of contemporary humanities, that is, the engaged humanities that emphasise care, sensitivity, and empathy.
