The title of the journal refers to the inspiration of the work of the Polish philosopher and educator of the 19th century, Bronisław Ferdinand Trentowski: Chowanna, that is, the system of national pedagogy, as capacities of education, science, and education, with the word “education of our youth.” Trentowski’s reflections were interdisciplinary and took into account philosophical, psychological, social and historical, educational, and cultural problems – from the very beginning, the journal follows this heritage to the present day and shapes both scholarly and patriotic values.
Throughout the period of its publication, the journal has had the character of a general educational journal, also dealing with questions of general didactics, the history and theory of education, social pedagogy, special pedagogy or comparative pedagogy, educational organization and management, psychological, philosophical and sociological, cultural, historical or pedagogical aspects. in writing.
The journal has always been a valued source of scientific-pedagogical knowledge, and its long period of publication has led to Chowanna’s long-standing position among the best Polish pedagogical journals.
In over ninety-three years of her existence, Chowanna boasted connections to many scientific centres in Poland, Europe, and the world, making her breakthroughs accessible to many renowned international scientists and young researchers.
