GIALLI GOGOL, TOLSTOY, CHEKHOV, MAUPASSANT, ETC.

Summary

The article considers film adaptations in the terms of spectatorial regime, which enables the bifurcation of two impressions — literary and cinematic ones. It suggests that there are certain genres of films, which due to their “attraction” (in the terms of Tom Gunning) features and conventions of production, distribution and consumption block or at least significantly limit the very possibility of bifurcation. The giallo movies of Mario Bava explicitly (paratextually) claiming their relation to Gogol, Tolstoy, and other rather virtual authors are the examples of thus understood limited or blocked bifurcation.

Streszczenie

Zazwyczaj problem ekranizacji sytuowany jest w ramach porównawczej narratologii, zaś efektem analizy okazuje się stwierdzenie większego lub mniejszego podobieństwa/rozbieżności strategii kreowania znaczenia. W niniejszym artykule ekranizacja traktowana jest jako szczególny typ lub też strategia odbioru, w procesie którego zachodzi bifurkacja dwóch rodzajów wywierania wrażenia na odbiorcy — literackiego i filmowego. W centrum uwagi autorki znajdują się filmy Mario Bavy traktowane jako przykład gatunku giallo, który na skutek zastosowanych w nim „atrakcyjnych” (termin Toma Gunninga) chwytów i konwencji produkcyjnych oraz w zakresie dystrybucji i odbioru, nakłada ograniczenia na formułę ekranizacji i faktycznie doprowadza do jej zablokowania.
