RUSSIAN EMIGRATION IN FRANCE Š REALITY AND MYTHS(FROM THE END OF THE XIXTH CENTURYTO THE WHITE EMIGRATION IN THE INTER-WAR PERIOD)

Summary

This article presents the features of Russian emigration in France from the end of the XIXthcentury to the inter-war period and puts emphasis on a€fact of distinction between French realityand Russian myths concerning the same time. For example, some researchers note the overstate-ment in Russian emigrants™ opinion about the deficiency in the cultural contacts with French elitesand lack of their influence on Russian literary creativity. Others consider that Russia abroad is themyth too, by reason of the absence of basic social Russian stratum - the peasants - in France.Many researchers raise doubts concerning statistical data and too hagiographic character of some Russian authors publications.
