The Polish Diaspora in the Shadow of Uncertainty: Legal Status and Institutional Threats to the Polish Community in Southern Europe and the Balkans

Abstract

The article characterises the legal and political status of the Polish diaspora in South ern Europe and the Balkans. The study aims to assess the impact of institutional
instability, economic crises, and selective implementation of minority law on the diaspora’s position. Comparative and legal document analysis was applied. Findings reveal the marginalization of Polonia and the reactive nature of the Polish Republic’s policy. The conclusions emphasise the need for a coherent strategy and lasting institutional support.
