The first issue of the Silesian Historical and Theological Studies was published in 1968 as a yearbook of the theological community in Katowice and was a response to the establishment of the University of Silesia in Katowice. In 1998, the journal became an organ of the Theological and Pastoral Institute, and after the creation of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Silesia – a scientific organ of that Faculty. In 2002, the yearbook was transformed into a semi-yearbook. The editors-in-chief have been
