Die Kirche erfüllt ihre Mission in der Welt unter anderem mit Hilfe verschiedener Vereine. In den Jahren zwischen dem ersten und dem zweiten Weltkrieg war es die Katholische Aktion, die eine grosse Rolle in der Erziehung der Katholiken verschiedener Stände spielte. Auf dem Gebiet der Jugenderziehung war ihre Tätigkeit durch den "Związek Stowarzyszeń Młodzieży Polskiej" (Bund der Vereine der Polnischen Jugend) — dessen Verdienste oft vergessen bleiben — vorbereitet. Der historische Rahmen des Artikels wurde mit Rücksicht auf folgende historische Ereignisse gewählt. Im Jahre 1922 erfolgte der entgültige Anschluss eines Teiles Oberschlesiens an Polen und es wurde eine von Breslau unabhängige Apostolische Administration auf diesem Gebiet gegründet. Dank diesen Vorgängen konnte sich die polnische Jugendbewegung unbehindert hinwickeln. Im Jahre 1933 wurde die erzieherische Tätigkeit der Jugendvereine durch die Katholische Aktion übernommen.
Die Jugendvereine entstanden in Oberschlesien im XIX Jahrhundert; — als erster wurde 1871 der Aloisiusverein in Rozbark (bei Beuthen) gegründet. Von diesem Zeitpunkt an begann ihre langsame aber systematische Entwicklung.
Zu Beginn des XX Jahrhunderts entstanden auf den polnischen Gebieten von Preussen, besonders im Herzogtum Posen und im geringeren Ausmass in Oberschlesien, zahlreiche neue Jugendorganisationen unter dem Namen "Stowarzyszenie Młodzieży Polskiej" (Verein der Polnischen Jugend). Auf der ersten Gesamtpolnischen sozialen Tagung in Warszawa im Februar 1919. beschloss man diesen polnischen Jugendvereinen den Charakter einer offiziellen Organisation zu verleihen. Alle Vereine einer Woiwodschaft oder eines Bistums sollten sich zum "Związek Stowarzyszeń Młodzieży Polskiej" (Bund der Vereine der Polnischen Jugend) zusammenschliessen, diese wiederum sollten einer gesamtpolnischen Dachorganisation "Zjednoczenie Młodzieży Polskiej" (Vereinigung Polnischer Jugend) mit dem Sitz in Poznań, angehören.
Der Gedanke in Oberschlesien den Bund zu gründen tauchte zum ersten Male auf zur Zeit der Volksabstimmung im Jahre 1920, auf einer Priesterkonferenz in Bytom (Beuthen). Am 20.XII.1920, auf einer Tagung der Delegierten der "Stowarzyszenia Młodzieży Polskiej na Śląsku" (Vereine der Polnischen Jugend in Schlesien), der in Katowice stattfand, beratete man das Statut, nahm die Zahl der Vereine auf und wählte den Vorstand. Somit wurde der Bund gegründet und begann seine Arbeit, in die immer weitere Vereine einbezogen wurden, bis 1933 er seine Tätigkeit einstellte.
