Review process

  • Submitting the article for publication is tantamount to the author's consent to subject the text to the review procedure.
  • The editor-in-chief, after consultation with the members of the editorial team, qualifies articles that match the journal's profile for review.
  • The editorial board selects appropriate reviewers and makes the decision of whether to publish texts based on their opinions.
  • Each article is reviewed by two experts who do not have a business or personal relationship with the author of the reviewed text. The reviewers – analogously independent of each other – are selected from among specialists with an academic title or postdoctoral degree, or equivalent qualifications in the case of their employment in foreign institutions. An expert with a doctoral degree may be selected to prepare a review of an article requiring the assessor's particularly narrow specialization.
  • As a rule, reviews are prepared free of charge, unless in specific cases when it is decided otherwise and an appropriate contract for specific work has been concluded.
  • The procedure complies with the principles of confidentiality and mutual anonymity in accordance with the requirements of the so-called double-blind review. The editor-in-chief provides the reviewers with an anonymous version of the text of the article, and the authors only with the content of the review and the reviewer's final conclusion, and does not provide the reviewer's personal data. The collective list of reviewers is published once a year in the printed issue of the journal and on its website.
  • The elements not listed in the above procedure comply with the recommendations of the Team for Ethics in Science at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, presented in the study Good Practices in Review Procedures in Science, Warsaw 2011.
