The text is a review of Zbyszko Melosik’s latest book entitled Pasja i tożsamość naukowca. O władzy i wolności umysłu (Researcher’s passion and identity: On the power and freedom of the mind), which is an outstanding work attuned to an ongoing international discussion regarding the situation, position, and qork conditions of researchers, academic teachers, but also general state of the today’s university, in particular humanities and social sciences.
