Romanica Silesiana is a discussion forum for Polish and foreign researchers in the field of literary studies and literary translation. Founded on the initiative of prof. Krzysztof Jarosz in 2006 (editor-in-chief until 2017) as a yearly, the journal has been published semi-annually since 2018. Each issue of the journal focuses on a topic or a problem specified by the editor and related to French and Spanish-language literatures, and Italian literature. Still, the topics are not limited to the above-mentioned ones. The thematic diversity is thus enriched by the multilingualism of the published articles.
The aim of the editorial team of the journal is to publish on time the best works by respected Polish and foreign researchers. High quality of the published articles is ensured by our reviewers (who are selected each time, depending on the subject matter of the text), who are recognized experts in the field of literary studies. Many of them are foreign scholars. Thanks to the best reviewers and authors, the journal will be included in a reputable scholarly circle and will enter scholarly circulation for good. Another goal of the editorial team is to expand the Editorial Board to include outstanding specialists of established reputation, constantly confirmed by the number of articles and citations.
A permanent section is "the studies" (études), within which thematic groups may be distinguished, if it is so required in an issue of the journal. All the published articles are peer-reviewed. Moreover, there may be two additional sections: Reviews of published critical texts (Comptes rendus) and Varia (publications in this section are also subject to review).
The publication of articles in the journal is free of charge. Furthermore, the issues are available in the Open Access formula.
The Journal is jointly owned by the Publishing House of the University of Silesia and the Alumni Association of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

In the current reality of the post-pandemic Covid-19 world, the health, climate, economic and military crises, forced migration, neocolonialism and horrific wars, many people are reported to have suffered from post-traumatic stress. With its past and current wounds and traumas, the world appears to be a place that needs urgent healing. The concepts of care, including self-care, and well-being of others and oneself, which are central for many cultures, turned out to be important keywords of our time. We propose a discussion on these concepts with a specific focus on Indigenous, Black, Eastern European and other diasporic perspectives to be examined in the context of the mainstream settler culture of English-speaking and French-speaking Canada.
As part of the English issue of the journal Romanica Silesiana (No. 2/2026), we propose a discussion on the concepts of healing, well-being, and care in Canada, with a special focus on Indigenous, Black, Eastern European and other diasporic perspectives. We especially invite analyses that are attuned to the labor of care as expressed differently across specific minority histories and geographies in English-speaking and French-speaking Canada. Interdisciplinary perspectives are highly encouraged. We also welcome submissions from graduate students at any stage of their research.
300–400-word proposals with short bios in English should be submitted by 24 November 2025 to BOTH justyna.jajszczok@us.edu.pl and r.madeja@us.edu.pl
