ETHICS OF PUBLICATION
The Editorial Board of the journal „Rusycystyczne Studia Literaturoznawcze” has adopted and applies ethical principles to counteract unfair publication practices.
The ethical rules of our journal are based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (www.publicationethics.org).
1. THE EDITOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES
1.1 PRINCIPLE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Editorial Board decides which articles will be submitted for publication and is responsible for the content of the journal. The Editorial Board also ensures the consistency of the published material and is prepared to publish corrections, edits and rectifications when necessary.
1.2 FAIR PLAY PRINCIPLE
The Editorial Board ensures that issues such as race, gender, religion, origin, nationality or political beliefs of the authors will not influence the evaluation of articles in any way.
1.3 CONFIDENTIALITY PRINCIPLE
The Editorial Board of the journal obeys the principle of confidentiality, i.e. it does not disclose any information concerning submitted texts and their authors to unauthorized third parties. Only the authors themselves, reviewers, members of the Editorial Board and the Publisher are authorized to obtain such information.
1.4 PRINCIPLE OF PREVENTING CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
In compliance with the rules of publishing ethics, the Editorial Board of the journal has the right to withdraw a text from a given issue and to make corrections to the already published material. If an author decides to appeal against the decision not to publish his/her article, the final decision in this matter belongs to the Editor-in-Chief. Unpublished articles submitted to the Editorial Board of the journal may not be used by members of the Editorial Board of the journal and the Publisher or by unauthorized third parties without prior Authors' written consent.
1.5 PRINCIPLE OF SCIENTIFIC ACCURACY
The Editorial Board of the journal is obliged to ensure the scientific accuracy of the published texts. Therefore, the Editorial Board has the right to make necessary corrections and, in case of suspected publishing malpractice (plagiarism, self-plagiarism etc.), to withdraw the text from publication.
1.6 PRINCIPLE OF TEXT WITHDRAWAL
The Editorial Board has the right to withdraw a text from publication
- if there is any evidence of unreliability and lack of credibility of the research;
- in case of significant factual errors;
- if it has already been published elsewhere;
- if it shows signs of plagiarism/self-plagiarism;
- if the author violates the rules of publishing ethics.
2. REVIEWERS' DUTIES
2.1 RULE CONCERNING CO-OPERATION WITH THE EDITORIAL OFFICE
Reviewers may participate in the work of the Editorial Board of the journal and influence the editors’ decisions. Through the Editorial Board, reviewers provide authors of texts with suggestions and substantive remarks, especially in case of lack of recommendation for publication.
2.2 TIMELINESS PRINCIPLE
Reviewers are obliged to send their reviews within the established deadline. If they are unable to prepare a review or meet the deadline (content-related and personal reasons, conflict of interest, etc.), they should immediately notify the Editorial Board of the journal.
2.3 CONFIDENTIALITY PRINCIPLE
All texts submitted for review are confidential, which means that Reviewers may not make them available to third parties (except for persons authorized to do so).
2.4 RULE OF PREVENTING CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
Reviewers must not use the reviewed texts for their own benefits and should not review texts where there may be a suspicion of a conflict of interest with the Author(s).
2.5 RELIABILITY PRINCIPLE
The Reviewer should indicate to the Authors of the texts those sources which in his/her opinion should be taken into account in order to raise its substantive level.
2.6 OBJECTIVITY PRINCIPLE
Reviewers are required to make reliable and objective assessments of the texts under review. Any comments and suggestions made by the Reviewer should be impartial and properly justified.
3. THE AUTHOR'S OBLIGATIONS
3.1 PRINCIPLE OF ORIGINALITY
The Author should submit for publication only his/her own original text. All works, interpretations, conclusions of other authors require the use of markings that indicate citation. Excerpts from one's own previously published texts also require appropriate citation. Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are considered incompatible with publishing ethics.
3.2 PRINCIPLE OF SCIENTIFIC ACCURACY
The author is obliged to take care of scientific accuracy of the text sent for publication. The text should contain the necessary information to enable identification of the sources. If the text is sent for publication together with graphic material the author is obliged to present the consent of the copyright owner for their use. Any manifestations of unreliability and failure to comply with the rules of publishing ethics in the manner of presenting research, sources and applied methodology may result in withdrawal of the text by the Editorial Board of the journal.
3.3 PRINCIPLE OF PREVENTING CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
The author is obliged to notify the Editor of the journal of a possible conflict of interest that could affect the interpretations presented in the text or the decision to publish it in the journal. Furthermore, it is considered unethical to submit a text to more than one journal/monograph simultaneously.
3.4 RULE CONCERNING ERRORS AFTER PUBLICATION
The author should immediately notify the Editorial Board of the journal if he/she finds significant errors or other inaccuracies in his/her text which may affect the level of content of the presented text.
3.5 RULE CONCERNING AUTHORSHIP
An author submitting a multi-authored manuscript for publication is obliged to disclose contribution of individual authors to its preparation (including the authors' affiliations and details of who is the author of the concept, interpretation, methods, etc. used in preparation of the text). The author should also ensure that the other co-authors approve the text submitted for publication in the journal.
