Der Artikel zeigt die Vision der oberschlesischen Familie, die in den Predigten und Hirtenbriefen des Bischofs Herbert Bednorz aus den Jahren 1967–1986 zum Vorschein kommt. Der Diözesanbischof von Katowice zeigte in ihnen konkrete Suggestionen bezüglich der Bildung und Bekräftigung der Personengemeinschaft (communio personarum). Zuerst betonte er die korrekte Vorbereitung der jungen Menschen zur Eheschließung. Mittel, die dazu führen, sind: breit verstandene voreheliche Katechese und Ausarbeitung der Haltung der Opferliebe. Der Stärkung der Menschenbindung dienen religiöse und psychologischgesellschaftliche Mittel. Zur ersten Kategorie rechnete der Bischof das Familiengebet und die gemeinsame Teilnahme an der hl. Messe. Zur zweiten – korrekte Organisation der Freizeit und die Benutzung der vielfältigen Angebote der pfarrlichen Familienseelsorge.
Bischof H. Bednorz konzentrierte sich in den Predigten auch auf den Wert der Prokreation und der religiösen Kindererziehung. Anknüpfend in seiner Beurteilung an das traditionelle Modell der schlesischen Familie würdigte er positiv die kinderreichen Familien. Im Erziehungsprozeß betonte er die Bedeutung des guten Beispiels der Eltern, des Unterrichts und der konsequent realisierten Disziplin. Jeder der genannten Faktoren wurde vom Bischof im einzelnen besprochen.
Die in der Diözese wohnenden Familien warnte er vor der Gefahr des Isolationismus. Er forderte den Apostolat und die karitative Tätigkeit.
