ANTI-PLAGIARISM POLICY

To prevent plagiarism, the Editorial Board of Silesian Historical and Theological Studies uses the anti-plagiarism system https://www.crossref.org/services/similarity-check/ based on the iThenticate software (http://www.ithenticate.com/). The system enables the verification of suspected similarities between submitted texts and internet sources as well as materials deposited by publishers participating in the Similarity Check service.

Plagiarism constitutes a violation of moral copyright and consists in appropriating all or part of another person’s work and publishing it under one’s own name. Copying one’s own work in part or in whole in order to expand one’s academic output, without disclosing the original publication, constitutes self-plagiarism. Plagiarism is a punishable offence.

In the event that plagiarism is detected:

  • before publication, during the peer-review or editorial process – the editorial board informs the author and suspends further stages of the editorial process;
  • after publication – the editorial board informs the institution with which the author is affiliated, the reviewers, and the affected parties, and undertakes to retract the published text and place an appropriate notice on the journal’s website.
