February 2027 will mark the tenth anniversary of the death of Rev. Prof. Wincenty Myszor, a patristics scholar and specialist in early Christian literature and theology, one of Poland’s foremost scholars of Gnosticism, and Editor-in-Chief of Śląskie Studia Historyczno-Teologiczne from 1981 to 1995.

In order to honour the memory of Professor Myszor, while also recalling his extensive scholarly achievements and his contribution to the development of research on Christianity in its earliest centuries, the Editorial Board of Śląskie Studia Historyczno-Teologiczne has decided to dedicate issue 60.1 (2027) to his memory.

We invite authors to submit original research articles devoted broadly to Christianity in Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages. We particularly welcome contributions addressing topics closely related to the research interests of Rev. Prof. Wincenty Myszor, including:

• Gnosticism and Gnostic literature, including the Nag Hammadi texts;
• the relationship between Gnosticism and emerging mainstream Christianity;
• theology and anti-Gnostic polemics, with particular emphasis on the works of Irenaeus of Lyons;
• patristic literature and the history of doctrines and ideas in the first centuries of Christianity;
• exegesis, anthropology, Christology, and ecclesiology in early Christian authors;
• the reception history of texts and ideas originating in Christian Antiquity;
• the history of patristic and Gnostic studies;
• topics related to the life, scholarly, teaching, and translation activities, and intellectual legacy of Rev. Prof. Wincenty Myszor.

The above list is not intended to be exhaustive. We also welcome submissions addressing other aspects of Christianity in Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages from theological, historical, philological, philosophical, and interdisciplinary perspectives.

We hope that the forthcoming issue will not only serve as a tribute to the memory of Professor Myszor, but will also provide an opportunity to demonstrate the continuing vitality of contemporary research on the heritage of early Christianity—an area to which he devoted many years of his scholarly work.

The issue will also accept reviews of books and other scholarly publications related to the themes outlined above.

At the same time, we wish to emphasise that issue 60.1 (2027) will not be exclusively thematic. Articles falling within the journal’s regular scholarly profile may also be submitted, even if they are not directly related to Rev. Prof. Wincenty Myszor or to research on early Christianity.

Submissions are accepted in Polish, English, French, German, and Italian. We therefore warmly encourage contributions from scholars affiliated with institutions outside Poland and from the international community of researchers working on Christianity in Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages.

Deadlines

Authors interested in contributing are encouraged to submit a preliminary expression of interest by 31 October 2026. Such notification, however, is not a prerequisite for the submission or acceptance of an article.

The deadline for submission of completed manuscripts is 31 December 2026.

Articles should be submitted via the Śląskie Studia Historyczno-Teologiczne OJS platform (https://journals.us.edu.pl/index.php/ssht), in accordance with the journal’s current editorial guidelines.

All submitted research articles will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review procedure.

We warmly invite scholars to contribute to this issue dedicated to the memory of Rev. Prof. Wincenty Myszor and to revisit the questions and fields of research to which he devoted a significant part of his life and scholarly work.
