Il documento della Pontificia Commissione Biblica dell’anno 2001 sul tema: Il popolo giudaico e le sue Sacre Scritture nella Bibbia cristiana sottolinea che questo popolo eletto e le sue Sacre Scritture hanno un posto eccezionale nel Nuovo Testamento. Essi formano la prima parte della Bibbia cristiana come l’Antico Testamento e sono presenti per molti modi nella sua seconda parte, nel Nuovo Testamento. In tutti gli scritti del Nuovo Testamento vediamo numerosi rapporti di Gesù stesso e dei suoi discepoli con i giudei. Nei Vangeli si presenta l’attività di Gesù fra i giudei, che chiama tutti alla penitenza e alla fede. Negli Atti degli Apostoli e nelle lettere di Paolo vediamo, come la salvezza va da Gerusalemme alle città pagane, ma a volte con molte difficoltà dalla parte dei giudei. La negativa presentazione del giudaismo, che ha rifiutato questa proclamazione, è un fatto storico, ma non può essere vista come un antigiudaismo. Perché la salvezza si trova nel primo posto per i giudei, ma poi anche per i pagani. San Paulo ha spiegato questo problema nella Lettera ai Romani (9–11) come mistero della fede. Giovanni Paolo II dicendo, che fra i cristiani e giudei ci sono numerosi collegamenti, invoca sia gli uni che gli altri all’amore fraterno e alla buona volontà. Dobbiamo insieme, cioè i giudei e i cristiani, vincere nei nostri cuori i sentimenti antigiudaici e anticristiani.
