This article explores the synergies between artistic practice and scholarly methodology through the collaboration between globale° – Festival for Border-Crossing Literature in Bremen and the inter-university research center POLYPHONIE. The partnership demonstrates how translingual authors reflect on and influence literary and societal transformations. It addresses key questions regarding the position of translingual literature in the German-speaking literary landscape, the narrative potential of literary multilingualism, and the role of linguistic biographies in examining language ideologies and cultural belonging. The article highlights how interdisciplinary collaborations can foster new methodological approaches in German studies and contribute to contemporary societal debates.

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected many areas of social life, including the functioning of religious institutions. Public health restrictions introduced in many countries, such as limits on public gatherings and temporary suspensions of liturgical celebrations, forced church communities to seek new forms of pastoral activity. Particular challenges emerged in migrant pastoral ministry, which performs not only religious but also important social, cultural, and integrative functions. The aim of this article is to analyze the transformation of pastoral activities carried out by the Polish Catholic Mission in Germany during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study focuses on the impact of the pandemic on the functioning of Polish migrant pastoral structures and on the new organizational and pastoral solutions that emerged during this period. The research also identifies the resources and potentials revealed in the crisis situation, as well as the difficulties and threats associated with sanitary restrictions. The methodological framework is based on the pastoral method “see – judge – act”, complemented by SWOT analysis and elements of participant observation. The author’s direct involvement in the coordination of Polish pastoral ministry in Germany provided insight into practical and organizational aspects of the community’s activities. This methodological approach enables both a description and interpretation of pastoral transformations during the pandemic and provides a basis for formulating pastoral conclusions and recommendations.

The subject of this article is laboratories that have played an important role in the fight against the disease caused by the coronavirus during the COVID-19 pandemic, but which have not yet been researched from a linguistic perspective (to our knowledge). This article uses linguistic discourse analysis to determine the conceptualisation of laboratories and labs in Austrian online media discourse on the coronavirus pandemic. Quantitative, lexicostatistical analyses are used to investigate the question of what knowledge about laboratories and labs is conveyed discursively. The analyses are based on a corpus that was compiled as part of a joint research project of the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest and the Karl-Franzens University of Innsbruck.

The article presents a review of Olga Grjasnowa’s novel Juli, August, September, published in 2024. The review outlines the key themes and motifs of the novel and places it within a broader context of similar literary works by the so-called third post-Shoah generation. In particular, the connection between feminist and post-migrant perspectives in Juli, August, September is acknowledged, as well as the deeper reflection on the position of the upcoming fourth generation. Overall, the review characterizes Grjasnowa’s novel as a successful continuation and development of 3G prose, opening up several discussion areas in contemporary literary studies.

This review of the publication by Jadwiga Kita-Huber, Jörg Paulus, Renata Dampc-Jarosz, Simona Noreik, Agnieszka Sowa, Katarzyna Szarszewska and Pawel Zarychta Schreiben im Zeichen des Umbruchs. Briefe von Schriftstellerinnen aus der Sammlung Varnhagen (1798–1858) [Writing in Times of Change. Letters from Women Writers from the Varnhagen Collection (1798–1858)] presents the rich archive holdings of the Jagiellonian Library in Krakow. The transcription and edition of the manuscripts from the collection of K.A. Varnhagen enables a broad reception and provides insight into the lives and social roles of the individual authors of the correspondence.

This review of Konrad Graczyk’s monograph Niemieckie sądy specjalne w Generalnym Gubernatorstwie 1939–1945 [German Special Courts in the General Government 1939–1945] outlines the author’s synthesis of the special courts operating in occupied Poland between 1939 and 1945. The book illustrates their functioning and the role they played in the process of exterminating the Polish people.

This article presents a review of the book Dziedzictwo przekazane. Kolekcje darów w zbiorach Biblioteki Teologicznej Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach (2025) [Transferred Heritage: Gift Collections in the Collections of the Theological Library of the University of Silesia in Katowice], published in 2025. The review outlines key issues related to book and archival donations, which constitute a particularly valuable part of the library’s holdings. These donations make a significant contribution to the development of the source base for scholarly research and to the documentation of the cultural and religious heritage of Upper Silesia. They constitute not only an important source of knowledge for contemporary researchers and a lasting testimony to the history and culture of the region, but also facilitate the reconstruction of the biographies of prominent figures of the Silesian and German clergy, Martin Gritz and Paul Bormann.
