Public engagements have a long tradition in anthropology. However, the awareness of the public role of anthropology is constantly growing and spreading to other scientific universes like archaeology or history. It is still a largely unorganised and informal specialisation and not free from controversy due to the entanglement of science in historical processes and the subjective world of social phenomena. This volume aims to showcase public engagement initiatives for varied
audiences arising from scientific research. We encourage papers that present existing projects,
approaches, resources, and experiences – including reflection on any aspects of public, non-academic engagements and the role of academics in a non-scientific world.
