Peer Review Process

The Editorial Board proceeds to the reviewing process if the manuscript meets the following criteria: the text does not exceed 40,000 characters (in some cases the editors do make exceptions from this rule) and includes keywords in Polish and English (7), an abstract in Polish at the first page (15 verses), an affiliation note (university), and a concise biographical note. Before submitting the manuscript, the author is required to verify that it meets the criteria outlined in the ‘Submissions’ section (https://journals.us.edu.pl/index.php/TPDJP/about/submissions).

Peer Review Process

  • Before an article is sent to a reviewer, all information identifying the author—such as their name and affiliation, as well as any clues within the text that might reveal their identity—is removed.
  • If one of the editors is the author of the article, another editor (the deputy editor-in-chief or a thematic editor) assumes their role.
  • Two independent reviewers from outside the author's affiliated research institution are appointed to evaluate each publication.
  • A double-blind review process is employed, meaning the author(s) and reviewers remain anonymous to one another. Reviewers must sign a declaration confirming the absence of a conflict of interest (see the relevant section of the review form); a conflict of interest is defined as the existence of direct personal ties (specifically, kinship up to the second degree or marriage), a professional reporting relationship, or direct research collaboration between the reviewer and the author within the two years preceding the review.
  • The written review includes the reviewer’s clear recommendation regarding the conditions for accepting the article for publication or for its rejection.
  • The final decision on whether to publish or reject the article is made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with other members of the editorial team—including the Deputy Editor-in-Chief—and the Chair of the Scientific Board.
  • The editor forwards the anonymized reviews to the author along with the decision: whether the article has been accepted for publication unconditionally, accepted subject to revisions, or rejected.
  • By consenting to the publication of their text in “Z Teorii i Praktyki Dydaktycznej Języka Polskiego”, the author simultaneously agrees to its publication in an online electronic format.
  • The names of reviewers for individual articles and issues are not disclosed. Once a year, the journal publishes a list of its collaborating reviewers on its website.

  9. The reviewer shall treat the received documents as confidential.
  10. The reviewer is obliged to identify deficiencies in source documentation or potential plagiarism and to inform the Editorial Board of such issues without delay.
