Submission review principles
„Prawne Problemy Górnictwa i Ochrony Środowiska” ["Legal Issuses in Mining and Environmental Protection"]
Principles governing the reviewing of submissions to PPGiOŚ are in line with the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The review procedure ensures confidentiality and anonymity.
The Editorial Board strives to ensure that: authors and reviewers remain mutually anonymous (Double-blind peer review), and that conflicts of interest between the reviewer and author of a submission are avoided (this applies e.g. in a situation when the reviewer and author have personal relations or one is professionally subordinate to the other).
Reviewers are selected by the Editor-in-Chief or Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor. The editorial board allows the authors - reviewers to suggest the text, but the editorial board verifies their identity and reserves the right to reject potential reviewers indicated in this way.
Each submission shall be reviewed by two reviewers, and anonymity shall be ensured. Review template.
The list of reviewers cooperating with the journal's Editorial Board is published on www.journals.us.edu.pl.
5. [REVIEW RESULT, FURTHER PROCEDURE] Submission authors shall receive a copy of the reviews without the names of the reviewers. The peer-review process may take about two months.
The Editor-in-Chief or Deputy Editor-in-Chief, in cooperation with the Managing Editor and based on the reviews, decides whether a submission shall be rejected, accepted, or sent back to the author so that they can address the reviewers' comments and modify their submissions accordingly within a specified deadline (for this purpose, the author fills the print response to the review). The preparation of the article after the reviews depends on the scope and nature of the reviewer's comments.
Once corrected by the author, the submission, together with the reviews and author's reply to the reviewers' comments, is once again submitted for evaluation by the Scientific Committee which decides to publish or rejest it.
The Editorial Board reserves the right to make cuts and editorial changes in submisions. The texts are subject to authorisation, and the author is responsible for the final wording of the text.
Publishing in PPGiOŚ is voluntary and entails submitting an article and publishing on the journal's internet website.
In order to protect the originality of publications, the Editorial Board reserves the right to:
- if a text has more than author, the author's declaration must specify precisely the input of the contributing authors (including information on who was the author of the concept, assumptions, methods. etc. used while working on the text);
- if other persons, who are not co-authors, have contributed to a text, their names must be revealed (e.g. in acknowledgements). This is intended to prevent dishonest scientific practices, such as ghostwriting (i.e. concealing names of persons who have contributed to a publication) and guest authorship (i.e. listing persons who have only made a marginal, if any, contribution to a publication as auhors).
Identification of such practices shall result in notifying intsitutions concerned (institutions employing authors, scientific associations, etc.) thereof.
The responsibility to submit the data specified above rests with the author directly submitting a text to the Editorial Board.
Information on the sources of funding for a given publication, such as domestic or international grants, foundation or association grants, etc., should be provided in footnotes.
