About the Journal
The semi-annual journal "Logopedia Silesiana" (LS) is an electronic journal published by the University of Silesia Press in Katowice since 2012. This publication enables those who are interested in speech therapy as science on biological conditions of language and linguistic aspects to present their achievements and conclusions (util 2020, the journal was published as an annual). The LS articles describe an interdisciplinary character of speech therapy activities and the discussions comprising the outline of speech development and speech disorder conducted in medical, linguistic, psychological and pedagogical perspective. The journlal focus on the national and foreign 21st-century therapists of speech and language as well as their achievements and observations. It has been a more than decade since the authors of “Logopedia Silesiana” are brought together by the wealth of ideas and scientific insight. Scholars and practitioners representing various research disciplines prove that significant changes have occurred in recent years as regards the problematics and methodology of research on speech development and speech disorders. They present research areas of modern speech therapy, providing a range of perspectives on various theoretical concepts, by way of pertinent methodologies and cutting-edge research instruments.
We wish to remind our Readers and Authors that beginning with issue No. 8 (2019) "Logopedia Silesiana" is a bilingual journal: we publish articles in both Polish and English. We publish papers in English, German, Czech, Russian, , French, Spanish and Italian.
The subjects of individual issues are announced in the “Call for papers” tab. All texts undergo a double-blind review process compliant with COPE ethical guidelines.
Note: Submitting his or her contributions to “Logopedia Silesiana”, the Author consents to licensing his or her work under Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). The Editorial Board does not charge the Authors with any fees for accepting and publishing the text. The publisher doses not restrict in any way the authors’ rights to use their own publications.
The journal "Logopedia Silesiana" is jointly owned by the University of Silesia Press Silesia and the Alumni Association of the University of Silesia.
Our journal has been granted 40 points as a result of the parametric evaluation carried out by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education in 2021. As of 2016, is also listed in the European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS) as well as in the Index Copernicus Journal Master with the impact factor ICV 2020: 100.00.
“Logopedia Silesiana” is indexed in numerous international databases, including CEEOL, CEJSH, DOAJ (the full list may be found in the Indexation tab).
Aims and scope of the journal
The journal aims is to present the achievements and reflections to all those interested in speech therapy as a science of biological conditions of language and linguistic behavior, and in the description of relations between speech, thinking and reality expressed in language. “Logopedia Silesiana” covers topics related to speech, its development and disorders, issues that are socially important because they indicate the practical and theoretical aspects of communicating with people of different ages. The articles show the interdisciplinary nature of speech therapy and include medical, linguistic, psychological and pedagogical perspectives on speech in development and in disorders. The journal presents the results of important research projects, materials and aids useful in speech therapy practice. The journal is intended to be a scientific forum that will foster both the development of logopedic science and the promotion of logopedic culture.
Representatives of international university humanities and an interdisciplinary audience: researchers, doctoral students, students, and in particular specialists and readers interested in the culture of language and the biological conditions of speech development and disorders, linguistics, and speech therapy and its perspectives on the medical, linguistic, psychological, and pedagogical description of speech in norms and disorders.
