Nutrition of the population of Slovakia in the period of building socialism
Abstract
The study aims to describe the most important changes in public nutrition during socialism in Slovakia. It explains the essence of the state Communist ideology’s involvement in people’s eating habits and the reality of socialist food production and distribution in the 1950s, when the acquirement of even basic foodstuffs was often accompanied by food shortage, bad quality, time losses related to food acquirement and high prices in some cases.

Rastislava Stoličná, Prof. PhDr., DrSc. V 1971 absolvovala štúdium národopisu na Filozofickej fakulte Univerzity Komenského v Bratislave. Od 1972 do 2016 pracovala v Ústave etnológie Slovenskej akadémie vied. Bola redaktorkou a spoluautorkou základných prác slovenskej etnológie: Etnografického atlasu Slovenska (1990) a Encyklopédie ľudovej kultúry Slovenska (1995). Bola vedeckou redaktorkou monografie: Slovakia. European contexts of the folk culture (1997, 2007) a jej slovenskej verzie: Slovensko. Európske kontexty ľudovej kultúry (2000). Vo svojom vedeckom výskume sa primárne zameriavala na kulinárnu kultúru. K tejto problematike vydala sedem knižných monografií a niekoľko desiatok štúdií. Druhou oblasťou, ktorej sa venovala bol výskum tradičnej kultúry slovenských minorít v Európe. K tejto problematike prispela do niekoľkých atlasových a knižných prác. V 2003–2012 prednášala na Sliezskej univerzite v Poľsku.
