About

The yearly journal "Z Teorii i Praktyki Dydaktycznej Języka Polskiego" is a broad-based journal, published continuously since 1977, first by the Department of Polish Language and Literature Teaching Methodology, and then from 2001 to 2019 by the Department of Polish Language and Literature Teaching. Since 2020, it has been a forum for the Interdisciplinary Center for Research on Humanities Education.

"Z Teorii i Praktyki Dydaktycznej Języka Polskiego" publishes scholars and practitioners from Poland, and in newer issues also from abroad (e.g. China, the Czech Republic, France, and Slovenia). The current expert panel of the Scientific Council, the publication, and the reviewers are international.

The journal's specificity is best captured by Edward Polański's title —"from theory and practice." From the outset, each volume has comprised multifaceted, interdisciplinary findings of both theoretical and practical nature concerning Polish language teaching and Polish literature and culture.
Subsequent volumes are consciously eclectic, weaving in content that is traditional within the context of Polish language teaching, as well as content that transcends it (including discourses related to first-language teaching, which does not necessarily have to be Polish, as well as teaching Polish as a foreign language).

The authors publishing articles in the journal include academics from various Polish and international universities, primarily Polish language educators, specialists in linguistic, literary, and cultural education, as well as representatives of other Polish studies disciplines, active Polish teachers teaching at all levels, and doctoral candidates. The journal features contributions from both senior Polish studies scholars with significant academic and teaching achievements, and from emerging authors presenting their first publications.

The journal "Z Teorii i Praktyki Dydaktycznej Języka Polskiego" is addressed to several audiences: literature and language educators, Polish language teachers, students preparing for the teaching profession, master's and doctoral candidates.

The editors and co-editors were/are researchers and  practitioners of Polish studies: Edward Polański, Jerzy Kram, Lidia Gilowa, Zenon Uryga, Helena Synowiec, Danuta Krzyżyk, Bernadeta Niesporek-Szamburska, and Magdalena Ochwat.
