Prawne Problemy Górnictwa i Ochrony Środowiska [title in English: "Legal Issues of Mining and Environmental Protection"] is a peer-reviewed, open-access, online biannual journal published by the University of Silesia in Katowice.
The Journal publishes original scholarly contributions in the broad field of environmental law, including, in particular, mining and geological law, water law, nature conservation law, and climate and air protection law.
The Journal provides a platform for academic discussion and the dissemination of research findings concerning contemporary legal challenges related to environmental protection, sustainable development, natural resource management, and the green transition. Particular attention is devoted to developments in environmental law in Central and Eastern Europe while remaining open to comparative, international, and interdisciplinary perspectives.
The mission of the Journal is to facilitate scholarly exchange between academics and practitioners, promote comparative legal research, and foster dialogue leading to de lege ferenda proposals within the areas covered by the Journal.
PPGiOŚ publishes research articles, case notes, commentaries, and other scholarly contributions addressing issues related to the broad field of environmental law.
The Journal welcomes submissions from academics, legal practitioners, early-career researchers, and doctoral candidates representing diverse legal traditions and research communities.
Since Issue 2/2026, all articles have been published exclusively in English. This policy has been adopted to enhance the Journal's international visibility, broaden its readership, and strengthen scholarly cooperation and knowledge exchange at the international level.
The Journal particularly encourages submissions resulting from international research collaborations, academic networks, and scientific conferences, especially those connected with Central and Eastern Europe.
