Abstract

Based on Powlekać rosnące. Apokryfy prenatalne [Coating the Growing. Prenatal Apocrypha] (2013) by Joanna Mueller, the most significant essay on motherhood in Polish literature, the author discusses the role that women’s essay writing and its hybrid nature play in the process of self-determination. Moreover, it presents how literary essays – by means of creating a story, a storyline perceived through narrative structures – influence an individual shape of each work and personal creative experience.
