Movie Shelf 2022

Abstract

The article presents a selection of Polish cinema premieres of the year 2022. The following titles are discussed in the text: Angels of Sinjar, Apokawixa, F*cking Bornholm, Family Secrets, A Night at the Kindergarten, Love Tasting, Po miłość/ Pour l’amour and Sonata. In connection with the climate-ecological theme of the volume, older Polish films have also been discussed: Banquet, Jasminum, Spoor, Strawberry Wine. The author presents the above-mentioned productions from a point of view that may be of interest to foreigners learning the Polish language and familiarising themselves with Polish culture, as well as to Poles. The proposed reviews show the cultural background and situate the individual productions in a cultural context and in relation to other works. In this year’s list, particular attention is paid to the actors appearing in
the individual films. The productions mentioned are also situated against a historical background and set in the current geopolitical situation.
