General Info

“Studia Etnologiczne i Antropologiczne'' is a scientific journal with an ethnological and anthropological profile which is a forum for presenting the recent scientific research that concern phenomena and cultural processes taking place locally, regionally as well as globally with particular reference to Central and Eastern Europe and Eastern Europe. We are particularly keen to publish ethnographic works presenting field research in the Global South (Africa in particular).

"Studia Etnologiczne i Anthropologiczne" has been published since 1997.
The journal is published by the publishing house of the University of Silesia on behalf of the Institute of Culture Studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice. In the printed version, the journal was published from 1997 to 2017, while since 2018 it has been published in electronic version (Open Access).

“Studia Etnologiczne i Anthropologiczne” publishes scientific dissertations and research reports being part of the area of interest of cultural and religious sciences. The profile of the journal results from the specificity of the Cieszyn ethnological centre, which, since its foundation, has been committed to work together with Slovak and Czech scientific centres. "Studia Etnologiczne i Anthropologiczne" provides ethnologists, anthropologists and representatives of related disciplines with an opportunity to discuss, exchange experiences and become familiar with the results of research conducted right now.

What stories, performances, rituals, and plays surround their consumption? How do fermented food, blood food, freeganism and other food practices become symbols of heritage and identity, and what do they have in common with systems of, e.g. gender, class and ethnicity?

CLIMATE CHANGE. GLOBAL PROBLEMS, LOCAL CHALLENGES

2023-11-27

Climate change is one of humanity's most demanding challenges. Anthropology allows us to observe and describe this phenomenon from the perspective of local communities adapting to global changes in which humans must revise their relationships with nature and other humans. This volume asks what practices and strategies people take to navigate these challenges. We welcome, especially ethnographic examples but also theoretical and transdisciplinary reflections.

Research areas include cultural ecology, climate activism, climate change discourse, a social experience of climate change (e.g. urban communities), and climate migration.
