The mouse in the folklore tradition of Eastern Slavs

Abstract

The article discusses the semantics of a number of metasigns (mouse, cat, tomcat, lynx etc.) of the folklore of Eastern Slavs in the mythological context of traditional beliefs and texts. Examples of proverbs, folk fortune telling and fairy tales are given as illustrations.
