Anna Czarnowus – dr hab., adiunkt w Instytucie Języków Romańskich i Translatoryki na Wydziale Filologicznym Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach, gdzie wykłada głównie literaturę angielską. Specjalizuje się w literaturze średnioangielskiej oraz mediewalizmach. Opublikowała dwie monografie: Inscription on the Body: Monstrous Children in Middle English Literature (Katowice 2009) i Fantasies of the Other’s Body: Monstrous Children in Middle English Literature (Peter Lang, 2013). Do tej pory publikowała na temat Chaucera, romansu średnioangielskiego oraz perspektywy gender i postkolonialnej w literaturze średniowiecznej. Ostatnio pracuje nad mediewalizmami kanadyjskimi i nowozelandzkimi. Interesuje ją także historia emocji i teoria afektu, również powiązana z ekokrytyką. Jest członkiem Laboratorium Animal Studies – Trzecia Kultura, Society for the History of Emotions, International Association for Robin Hood Studies oraz Polskiego Towarzystwa Badań Kanadyjskich. Współpracuje z Zespołem Badawczym „Badania nad Kulturą Dawną” na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim.
