The submitted text should be prepared according to APA stylesheet (additional information in Polish).
1. The first page of the article should include:
a) name and surname of the author, affiliation, ORCID number and email address – each in separate line, left-aligned;
b) title in the language of the article, an English title (and, if the article has been written in a language different than Polish – also a Polish title) – boldface and centered;
c) an abstract in English and an abstract in the language of the article (if the article has been written in a language different than Polish – also a Polish abstract); 10 Times New Roman; the length of an abstract should be between 150 to 250 words.
For a scientific article, the abstract should contain the following information:.
- indication of the subject of the research,
- aim of the research,
- research method used,
- conclusions.
For a review article, the abstract should contain the following information:
- indication of the research area and the time of the review,
- aim of the review.
- presentation of the crucial problems of the analyzed research area.
For a polemical article, the abstract should contain the following information:
- data regarding the reviewed publication,
- type of review: reporting/polemical,
- author's most significant remarks in the polemic.
All types of abstracts must include the keywords of the article. Abstracts are an integral part of an article in Forum Lingwistyczne, while in computer databases (e.g. CEJSH, CEEOL) abstracts in English will be included as stand-alone texts. When qualifying an article for publication, an abstract is subject to evaluation.
d) keywords (5 maximum) referring to the content of the article – in English and in the language of the article (and, if the article has been written in a language different than Polish – also keywords in Polish).
Texts intended for publication in the POLEMICS section should also contain an abstract and keywords.
2. Format: Microsoft Word (DOC format, articles containing non-standard fonts (including phonetic ones) should be submitted in DOC and PDF formats). The length of the text, including references, abstract and keywords, cannot exceed 8000 words.
3. Font:
- main text: 12 Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing;
- footnotes: 10 Times New Roman, 1 spacing.
4. Discussed words, sentences, terminology as well as foreign phrases should be italicized.
5. Subject references should be included in the form of footnotes.
6. Bibliographical references in the text should be in the so-called Harvard style.
7. References– when referring to a given author for the first time, full name and surname should be provided. Later references should be in the form of a surname only.
8. Quotations should be given in “ ”quotation marks; for quotes within quotes we use ‘ ’. According to APA stylesheet, longer quotations (more than 40 words) should be in block format (1 cm indented), with 1 line offset from the main text (top and bottom), 10 Times New Roman, without quotation marks.
9. Citations in foreign languages should be translated, with the following options acceptable:
a) original version in the main text, translation in a footnote,
b) translation in the main text, original version in a footnote,
c) translation in the main text, the source of the original in a footnote, without the original version.
10. The text should be followed by a bibliography, which may include the following headed sections: sources, dictionaries, literature. The lists should be in an alphabetical order; all works cited or referenced in the article should be included in the bibliography.
The bibliography should not contain works not directly referenced in the article.
Sources: this section should include subject literature, i.e. the list of source texts which were the subject of the analysis in the article.
Dictionaries: in the text of the article, commonly accepted abbreviations of dictionary names may be used, for instance: OED (Oxford English Dictionary), OALD (Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary), LDOCE (Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English).
Literature should be in Latin alphabet, regardless of the language of publication, prepared according to APA styleguide and placed at the end of the article. If necessary, a transliteration in Latin alphabet may be added according to BGN/PCGN system.
The following formatting should be used: the second verse (and the following) of the bibliographical entry: 1cm indentation.
