The submitted manuscripts undergo initial reviews by the Editorial Team. The basic criteria are congruence with the journal’s profile and correct technical preparation of the article (in accordance with the styleguide for authors).
Two weeks after the submission of the article, the author receives through OJS information concerning the results of the internal review.
The Editorial Team chooses two external reviewers (outside of the author’s affiliated institution). When selecting reviewers, the editors take care to avoid conflicts of interest between authors and reviewers (e.g. business relationship, close personal relationship, kinship relationship, etc.).
The reviews are double blind: the Editorial Team submits for review texts without the authors’ personal data and the authors are unaware of the reviewers’ identities.
The review is prepared in a written form on the template available at the journal’s website (review form - template). The review ends with a definite conclusion: - the article may be published as submitted - the article may be published if corrections/revisions suggested by the reviewer have been made - corrected version of the article must be referred to the reviewer for acceptance - the article cannot be accepted for publication.
The identities of reviewers of particular manuscripts are not revealed. The list of reviewers is available at the journal’s website.
Having received the review, the journal editor sends it to the author of the article.
Following the two reviews, the Editorial Team makes a decision concerning publication: a) if both reviews are positive, without indicating corrections, the text is accepted for publication and the author is obliged to submit a de-anonymised version of the manuscript within two weeks of receiving the review,
b) if any of the two reviews is positive, but the reviewers indicated necessary corrections/revisions, the author is obliged to send a de-anonymised version of the text with corrections/revisions or comments concerning the reviewer’s indications (in Review – Track changes mode) within three weeks of receiving the review. The author should also submit a complete manuscript with all the comments removed (the so-called clean copy). Additionally, the author prepares a response to the reviewer’s comments in the form of a separate file (available: here), which will be passed on to the reviewer.
c) in case of contradictory reviews (one positive, the other negative) as well as in other justified cases, the text may be sent for a third review.
