The article contains a review of Waldemar Czachur's book Lingwistyka dyskursu jako integrujący program badawczy (2020). In the first part, the author of the review introduces the reader with the content of individual chapters of the described monograph, and in the second part she discusses its selected aspects that she considers important or innovative. These include: recognizing Tadeusz Milewski and Leon Zawadowski as precursors of the language-in-use approach, approaching discourse linguistics in terms of not a methodology but an integrated research program, and considerations regarding the existence of a universal set of methods applicable in discourse analysis. The reviewer includes the advantages of the monograph: a summary of differences and similarities between Polish and German studies on discourse, as well as combining various, seemingly distant, perspectives and research approaches. The review is descriptive, does not contain polemical elements, and its author clearly considers the reviewed monograph to be important for contemporary linguistics.
