The article focuses on the activity of the Order of Friars Minor in the so-called Custody of the Holy Land during the epidemics of past times and the current period. During its history in the Middle East, it was plagued by epidemics many times. The Holy See entrusted the care of the shrines in the Holy Land to the Friars Minor. Thus, the activity of the care of pilgrims was carried on through the presence of the Friars Minor in the Middle East. Over the centuries, the Franciscans in the Holy Land have played a fundamental role in Jerusalem in looking after the sick and in the spiritual assistance of the faithful. The same care was also shown in looking after the local people. Based on literary sources and pilgrim itineraries, one can describe ways of dealing with the threat of epidemics. It is above all a question of concrete, but also spiritual means. The history of the care of the sick by the friars in Jerusalem on behalf of pilgrims of every Christian Church (Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant) and the local people (Muslims and Jews), and the friars themselves, has been made known thanks to historical documents. The chronicles of the Holy Land speak of many restrictions during the time of the plague. The experience meant that the only ways were isolation and segregation. In the Holy Land, the Franciscans had to self-impose precautionary measures, aimed at limited infection in times of epidemics. It is something similar to what has happened recently with the Covid-19 pandemic. In this period of the pandemic, the Custody has provided material and spiritual support to the local population who remained isolated and without any support. The practice used by the Franciscans in the Holy Land continues today to be an important mine of experience to draw on in difficult times.

The letters exchanged between Abp. Józef Gawlina and Fr. Kazimierz Kwaśny are stored in the Archives of the Polish Catholic Mission in Paris. This collection consists of over one hundred and fifty letters from the years 1949–1963, arranged chronologically, in Polish, French and Italian. Apart from a few handwritten letters, most are typewritten. The value of this correspondence is evidenced by the fact that the Guardian of Polish Emigration in his correspondence to the rector in Paris not only raises the issues of organizing pastoral care among Poles in France, but also familiarizes him with the relations and dependencies existing in Rome. Reading these letters allows us to understand how important it was in the Vatican to maintain the rules of courtesy, choose the right vocabulary or polite forms and expressions. The aim of this article is to analyze the style of work of Archbishop Józef Gawlina based on the materials quoted.

The article attempts to indicate the sources used by Józef Goj upon creating "Description of a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land", as well as a collection of "Pilgrim Songs Composed from Seeing and Visiting (...) Holy Places". Published at the beginning of the 20th century, they testify to the wealth of inspiration of the uneducated author. The pilgrim from Upper Silesia, probably serving as the song leader, the so-called Śpiewok although rooted in folk culture, tried to transcend its boundaries, referring to traditional old man's songs, religious texts, guidebooks, and a work that is now a literary classic - "Quo Vadis" by Henryk Sienkiewicz. The wealth of sources was accompanied by a variety of ways of referring to them: quoting larger fragments or quoting specific sentences, phrases or expressions, paraphrasing, as well as drawing inspiration from the language and style of the original.

The article recalls „Ewangelik Górnośląski” - a Polish Lutheran magazine published in Katowice from 1932 to1939 by the Society of Polish Evangelicals in Upper Silesia. The weekly was the only Polish Lutheran magazine published in the interwar period in this area. The article, against the background of the situation in the United Evangelical Church in Upper Silesia, established in 1924, in Polish Upper Silesia, sheds light on the creators and editors of the weekly, primarily clergy, well-known Polish independence activists and their efforts in the magazine to awaken national awareness among local Lutherans. The editors' opposition to Anti-Semitism and their criticism of Hitler's actions deserve to be emphasized. Based on archival materials, the issues of financing the weekly, circulations and forms of promotion were also presented.

The aim of the following article is to discuss the genesis and long-term development of the E-encyclopedia of knowledge about the Catholic Church in Silesia project, which was created in the academic environment of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Silesia in Katowice. Analyzing statistical data on website traffic collected by the Google Analitycs tool in selected time periods (beginning - mid-life - present), the author attempts to describe and interpret the social reception of the content presented on the website, placing it in the broader media contexts of recent decades (the transition from the use of personal computers to smartphones, immediate access to information, superficiality in its reception). The author notes factors that favor the development of the project - immediate and wide access to Internet resources, the possibility of promoting the website on a large scale through social media, online advertising, and unfavorable factors - "tyranny of the moment", superficiality of reception, randomness of searches, randomness of advertising content. It turns out that these (and other) factors resist unambiguous assessment because they smoothly interpenetrate and interact with each other.

The purpose of the following contribution is to present the theological works found in the library of the Piarist college in Wielun and their usefulness in the implementation of tasks by monks. This was done on the basis of the library catalog from 1809, currently located in the Archives of the Piarist Order in Krakow. The library of the Piarist college in Wielun contained only 49 theological works out of over 1,300 in total. More than half of the theological works (26) in the library of the Wielun College were written in Latin. Among the national languages, Polish was of course the dominant one - 19 books were published in it. Another national language in which theological works in the Wielun library were published was French: 4 works.
