As we might think that we know everything of dogs, for dog domestication took place tens of thousands years ago and dogs have accompanied the humans since then, both at work and at home – kynology has developed greatly over the years. The article aims to answer the questions of the thematic scope that is of interest to kynologists, where they retrieve information from and what omissions have been disclosed in the selected sources. Along with theoretical considerations the article presents the results of the questionnaire on the sources of kynological information. As predicted, the most popular medium was the Internet. The respondents have also provided a list of reservations concerning the contents of the selected literature and are willing to further extend knowledge on dogs.

The main objective of the article is to present the history of Scandinavian literature in Poland. Applying bibliographic method and literature analysis criticism as well as statistical analysis, the authors have examined and analysed the offer of Polish publishing houses offering Old Scandinavian literature since the 19th century, including publishing series on sagas such as “Seria Dzieł Pisarzy Skandynawskich” [Series of Works by Scandinavian Writers] of Poznań Publishing House or “Materiały o Islandii” [Materials on Iceland] of Towarzystwo Przyjaźni Polsko-Islandzkiej [Society of Polish-Icelandic Friendship]. As it has been established, more than one hundred years have passes since the first publishing records from the beginning of the 19th century to subsequent publishing initiatives.
