The article presents the main elements from a discussion forum that examined the Internet as a genre from the perspective of linguistic genology. This genre is presented as a codified one, which meets technological requirements, accepted textual standards and norms of communication (netiquette, regulations). It is an asynchronous form, which operates in hypertextual mode, though oral elements can also be distinguished. The following elements are characteristic of Internet discussion forums: dialogic aspect, petrification of textual frame, thematic arrangements, colloquial character and a tendency to condense both form and content. The main purpose of Internet discussion forums is to present and share information and opinions.

The article presents the main genological determinants of announcements – such determinants result from the specific character of Internet communication (especially hypertextuality). The author of the article exposes common elements characteristic of both Internet announcements and traditional press announcements. She especially emphasizes genological (intertextuality) and discursive (interactive style of communication) conventions. The article also presents different variants of this genre found existing on the Internet. It also discusses the paradoxes of the genre, which are determined by a matrixlike character of websites, but at the same time it changes dynamically in order to both follow the readers’ expectations and continually transgress them.

The aim of the article is to present a discussion on language on the portal Feminoteka.pl. This nonacademic debate, led by average language speakers, is being analysed through the category of verbal hygiene, which refers to popular, egalitarian and everyday speech. The strategies used by feminists reveal their attempts to transform the style of communication in Poland. They promote discourse of equality, a form of social interaction that uses both argumentation (in a rhetorical sense) and communication practices (in a normative sense) to favour feminist notions.

In this article the texts of television commentaries from sports events are analysed. Sports competition is only a pretext and pretext for a linguist. However, these two elements are semantically and chronologically related. The competition must appear first, so that the commentary can be created – a reportage, an interview with a sportsman or an informative description. A linguist is interested in a number of questions; which genre does the media presenter use to describe the sports event in his medium, what is characteristic for these models, what is characteristic for a presenter himself and his discursive perspective? The author of the article consolidates the knowledge gained in the past and uses the tools of textology, genology and discourse analysis in her research on the subject.

The article refers to poetry that is regarded from a new media perspective. The author claims that both untraditional and traditional (inscriptive) forms of poetry require new media perspectives. Such an assumption seems essential now, especially since technology is becoming socialized and traditional systems of art have been deconstructed. The article aims at justifying such assumptions and describing the consequences for poetry.

The article discusses cyberpoetry as a category of avantgarde writing. The author proves that cyberpoertry should not be regarded as modern avantgarde writing, because modern culture does not follow the avantgarde cultural and aesthetic norms (such as novelty, originality). The fact that cyberpoetry applies some avantgarde aesthetic tools (collage and montage) must be regarded as nonavantgarde continuation.

The article describes different forms of promoting the literature of genres and the consequences of such promotions for the fans of certain genres. The author examines a crime story portal: ways of describing the genre, offering (or not) the reader the possibility to create some content and cocreate the portal (which can be done by encouraging the readers to make commentaries or participate in the contests). Establishing a direct contact with readers, results in creating a community of fans. The article presents the following websites: „Portal Kryminalny”, „Zbrodnia w Bibliotece”, „Deckare.pl”, „Klub MORD – Klub Miłośników Powieści Milicyjnej” i „Zbrodnicze Siostrzyczki”.

The author of the article begins with an analysis of the journalism classes in high schools. Such classes are very popular due to the students’ choices and parents’ preferences. He also discusses the usage of new media technologies in teaching. He claims that concentrating on media or information literacy which is evolving due to the usage of new multimedia technologies is nowadays one of the most important challenges for educators. The author concludes his considerations with a statement: ‘I would say that the best media education in the future will be one in which it will not exist. It means that the whole system of education would define media education as a set of skills, knowledge and practices essential for all types of human activity in the 21st century. It would result in media education being a main element in the creation of a new school in a postmodern world’.

The article presents and evaluates lexical exercises and glottodidactic tasks presented on an educational platform Polish Your Polish – (Un)Polish Your Russian (KU Leuven, Belgia). It is based on the latest scientific literature on using digital educational materials in teaching foreign languages. The analysis proves that the value of the materials prepared at KU Leuven results above all from their authenticity, primacy of the meaning and their attractiveness. When teaching Polish vocabulary using information and communication technologies, it is far more difficult to meet the criteria of effectiveness and functionality. The authors of the article claim that open, multistage tasks, that require active processing of information and lead to a certain useful ‘final’ product can serve this purpose well.

Interactive movies are a result of a dialogue between expanded cinema and the art of new media. First examples of this phenomenon were interactive film installations. Jeffrey Shaw, Luc Courchesne and Grahame Weinbren are among the precursors of this trend. Their works are fundamental to the history of interactive movies. Creations of the first two artists were of a visual and immersive character and their artistic projects resulted in creating the idea of interactive participants in film events and the concept of ‘panoramic dispositive’ as a sphere of interactive film experiences. Weinbren created a model of interactive film narration that was available in installation mode. The artists’ interactive film installations are both a continuation of previous artistic activities in the field of cinema as well as a transgression leading to new media technologies, a new concept of cinema and movie activities and new aesthetics.

Television Theatre is a specific genre that is a characteristic unique to Polish media. It began with the creation of TV. In the beginning it aimed only at transferring traditional theatrical shows into a new medium. It became very popular with live transmissions of theatrical shows from TV studios. Later it adopted new technical and staging possibilities. It has evolved over the years, creating different styles and tendencies, due to the development of television itself and the achievements of the theoreticians as well as people involved in theatrical productions. Lately it has also turned to the Internet and because of that a mass audience has gained access to a high art form.

The article describes two television channels: a general one (TVN) and its thematic variation (TVN Style) in the context of transformations observed in the genological and discursive character of television itself. Analysis of the programme schedules of both TV channels reveals a tendency to create specific genres, it distinguishes certain types of speech that appear in both channels and presents the style of some magazines. Such presentation leads to certain conclusions on the essence of thematic television and the task it is to fulfil.

The article characterizes contemporary Polish language newspapers in Ukraine and discusses some language features of the texts in reference to language norms that are applied in Poland. Material gathered mostly from the press but also from some other sources (questionnaires, spoken texts etc.) reveal some specific features of pragmatic language norms applied by members of the Polish community in Ukraine. The thesis is specifically on language etiquette norms and explains the different criteria used in Polish language as it is used in Poland, compared with abroad. Data gathered by the author leads to the conclusion that the Polish language etiquette norm as defined by linguists would differ significantly from the norm as defined by average Polish language speakers in Ukraine.

The article aims to present one of the most popular yet at the same time often misunderstood novels by Witold Gombrowicz – Ferdydurke. The article claims that the most important motif in Gombrowicz’s works is the problem with Form and in Ferdydurke the writer tackles this very subject. This novel – though not very long – is a complex and rich analysis of Form related to human life. The concept of Form is the key to an adequate understanding of Ferdydurke: it justifies unusual formal strategies and linguistic means used by the writer. It also explains a complicated plot and proves that what used to be regarded as chaos is in fact an intended strategy used in a logical and consequential way.
The article is addressed above all to those, who being unfamiliar with Gombrowicz’s creativity, regard it as strange and incomprehensible. It proves that at least in the case of Ferdydurke this is not true and it is worth reading Gombrowicz’s works once again, as the world created by the writer is fascinating and multidimensional.
